2003 225 H.O Ficht - What are the metal wires in the 2 tubes inside the Filter ?

When i took/screwed off my fuel/water seperator bowl today i noticed that there were 2 tubes that dropped down into the filter bowel and each of these small plastic tubes has in it a very fine piece of wire.

What is this wire ? How do they fasten to the unit ?

One fell down/out of one of the plastic tubes... do i just push it back up into it ?

Those are the water in fuel sensors. See if you can get it out of the filter and re-insert it.

Ok, are they supposed to be somehow connected to the top somehow or do they just sit inside those tubes based on their crookedness ? I want to ensure i refasten it to the top correctly

i figured it out... it looks like each wire is microscopically ( don't know how ) welded to a metal probe inside the tube. One of fine, the other one had its micro weld break.

I think i'm going to just buy a replacement part ... $60 bucks but i don't want to be out somewhere and have the alarm go off.

In the future, dropping the port belly pan lets you drop the filter enough to keep from distorting the wires....
