Anyone try this in their Etec's?
Anyone try this in their Etec's?
One of my customers uses HP in his Etec all the time and has had no issues. He is running a 09' 150 HO on a 09' Crestliner Raptor and has had no problems. Plus he's saving big $ over the cost of 100XD.

Is he running your oil at the reduced oil setting that is for XD-100 only, or is it on the regular TC-W3 setting?
How much per gallon is he paying?

He is running it at the XD-100 setting. We sell XD-100 at $49.99 per gallon vs $29.99 for the AMSOIL HP INJECTOR. $20 savings is pretty nice to have. Both XD-100 and AMSOIL HP INJECTOR are 100% Synthetics and neither is rated TC-W3 Certified b/c a pure 100% synthetic oil can't be certfied b/c one of the additives needed to be certified is a petroleum product, if he was running a synthetic blend then I would've set his motor up for the TC-W3 setting. Hope this helps.

I am running XD-50 as per the dealer's instructions. The Amsoil is just more readily available. I have to order XD. No one close by has it on the shelf. So, would I need to change settings in order to use the Amsoil?
i run hp injector in my 03 225 ho. awesome oil. great on plugs and price. no problems at all. i get the oil for about 21.00 a Great stuff. Not sure on the settings but they make a 100:1 oil also. i know the hp injector is designed for the injector motors and 50:1 pre mix. Beats the heck out of those outrageous prices of xd 100.
I know this does not answer your original question but my 99 Ficht is on its 11th year of Amsoil. I don't remember the oil it was filled with when it left the dealership. I do know that when the tank got low every tank since then has been Amsoil HP Injector oil.
What concerns me is the E-TEC running at the XD-100 setting with Amsoil. Using the TC-W3 setting is no problem.
Others have contacted Amsoil a while back asking about E-TECs with the XD-100 setting and they recommended against it. Amsoil stated to use the TC-W3 oil programming setting with the E-TEC and their oils.

$15,000 dollar motor and we try to save $10 on oil!

I loved Amsoil in my carbed motors, absolutely swore by it and I had a lot of guys using it. My 08 ETEC 225HO has only ever seen XD100 and it is set at TCW3 by default, not about to save a couple dollars there by changing to anything else. Even if I blew an extra $50 or $100 a year in oil my grandkids would need to be using the motor 30 years from now to even start to see a return on an engine rebuild due to improper oil settings and or usage.

So if you are using XD-50, you can change to XD-100 without changing settings?
All i can say is i love evinrude motors have had an omc all my life and plan to stay.. Is oil the downfall of these motors... i dont think so. Its all in the driver and how they drive them and how they treat them. i know of guys who run havoline 2cycle and put like 500 plus hours with little maintence on them and still kicking. I dont think motors blowing up is oil related failures. UInless they are required to burn 100:1 like seahorse said. 100:1 by its self is seems retarded at how hard the average joe pushes the peddal. If they added 20 percent more oil back to these motors they woule probably last for 20 years no problem. Corporations are out to make money and not give it back. Thats why i burn aftermarket brands. Like i said. JMO

I swear buy Amsoil and I also agree with the above statement.
I also would not want my motor on the XD 100 setting even if I ran XD 100...However I would have no problem/concern running Amsoil or XD 100 in the TCW 3 setting. XD 100 is an Excellent oil and so is Amsoil.
I was running Amsoil years before XD 100 hit the market and have had zero oil issues. I am within 3 miles of an Amsoil dealer and within 25 miles of 3 different dealers. I would have to travel a lot farther to get XD 100 plus pay more $ per gallon.

Yes. I have my '06 set to the TCW3 setting and run the XD-100. No problems to date!

Just to clarify the ratio is not 100:1 it is a setting on the EMM for XD-100 oil or TCW-3.
If u have any other questions about the oil itself, IM me and I'll send you a link to the data sheet on it. Also, I ship to your front door, so you down have to worry about availibility
