Has anyone spent any time on Mississippi River Pool 24 (Louisiana Pool) recently?
We had a club tournament this past Sunday. We knew it would be tough since there was about a 20 boat Tx the day before.
Never really got a pattern established. We practiced on Saturday and found some SM bass on a main river wing dam. We caught them on spinnerbaits and crankbaits. The next day, Tx day, they wouldn't have anything to do with a spinnerbait or crank bait. My partner changed to a black neon T-rigged tube and caught two right away. That was it. We did some running between the Salt, Two Rivers marina and back to the wing dam. Nothing but shorts and whites.
The weigh-in was scheduled for 3:30 and at 2:00 I was still fishless. I finally caught a keeper in the marina. She inhaled my #4 Rapala Rattlin' Fat Rap in shad pattern. Another hour and change passed. I decided to switch from a black/blue fleck Power Worm to a black neon Zoom tube. Made three casts and at 3:15 I felt a tick, then set the hook on and boated a 2.74lbs LM bass. I had enough for 6th. I got on the board and did not loose my standing for our classic. Two more Tx's to go.
We had two limits and all 11 guys weighed in.
