2002 Johnson 150 stalls on takeoff.

I read ChampioNman's thread on moving the roller cam if it is away from the W.O.T. cam at idle. My roller was 1" away from the cam, just as shown. The pivot screw in the roller arm was loose. I adjusted the roller over against the cam and tightened the screw as prescribed. My question is, what does this do to any timing issues and should this roller have a clear pvc cover over it, mine does not?. The engine had been gone over by a couple marina's with no success, but no one has ever till now checked the roller arm. Can't wait till lakes thaw to see if this solves a 5 year problem. Thanks

Pull your air box cover off and make sure your plates are opening fully at wide open throttle they should be 90* to the carb bodies. Also make sure your throttle cable has been adjusted properly.

Thanks for the additional info. I also am in the process of putting a new throttle cable in for a hot foot installation so I'll be sure to check the adjustment. By the way, do I have to remove the lower engine cowl to access where the cable is attached?

Nope just the access cover and the 3/8" bolt for the cable clamp. Hint. Don't remove the throttle cable from the control box just unhook it from the motor and coil in to the engine compartment on the boat. You'll have a spare cable in case the HF ever messes up and you can get back in.
