Yes it's worth making a trip in the fall. I've fished a tournament there in the fall the last four years except this year they switched it to Lake Monroe.Check out the reports from Patoka that'll give you some good info. Also welcome to the boards.

I try and stay in the lake I hit to many trees in the river side. You can post in the IN/KY/OH bass club since most of the guys live closer to Patoka than me.
I was down there last summer during the heat wave and did soso it was in July. Caught some smallies and some nice largemouth nothing over 3lbs though. I do remember catching the nicer bass on chrome and black crank baits. Smallies came on jigs. Looking at heading down maybe this fall for a long weekend but I want to try Monroe I havent fished it yet.
