had a tourney during last saturday, Jan 14th's wind storm. 9 guys out of 16 weighed fish. 7 guys had 1 fish for 2.5lbs to 4.lbs....1 guy had 3 fish for 9.99lbs and his partner had 5 fish for 20.01lbs, culling 3, the sack included a 7.57lb'er. they went to the right of the vetrans ramp, threw a shad rap type bait on the rocks in shallow to semi shallow water. water temp was 57 degrees. they smoked everyone and didn't catch a fish after 1300hrs because of trolling motor malfunction.
i went on the 12th and found fish in 3-4ft on wood and in subtle depth changes, catching them on a red lipless crank, jig and norman deep baby N

Thanks for the report. Went to Blackshear on 1/22 caught a few decent bass on some points off of a creek channel up north in about 10 feet of water using a c-rig and some dinks on a rattle trap in about 5 feet of water. We would have stayed on the points where we were catching some good fish but the wind was killing us.

going to blackshear this weekend for club tourny.any help appreated.have not been to lake in about a year.
No one in here either???? HELLLOOOOOO!!!!![]()
I heard it was drained or lowered.
It was lowered about 3 or 4 feet so people could work on their docks. It is back up now.

Thanks for the news. I'll have to get back up there.
Got a club tourn. on the 17th at Blackshear. Anybody got some tips or starting points. I'm probably coming up this sunday also.
You could try the rip rap along the the rail road bridge across from the Veterans State Park, or go North from the park to Spring Creek and fish the mouth of it where it comes into the river channel. You can probably find it by looking for the perch jerkers. Or you could go South and fish the Cedar Creek area and the East bank of the lake.

Got a small club tournament up there on 14 April. I'll probably show up a day or two early if possible to do a little fishing. Any help onthe lake would be appreciated. I fished Blackshear once and I never wanted to go back. I did not do well. Also, any good lodging areas with military discounts?
Bump! Come on, I know somebody fishes Blackshear or has an idea. I'm not asking for gps locations just a little idea about the lake conditions, where they might be or popular colors. Thanks.
Thanks. Got it and back at ya.
Report for 14 April. Water Temp was 62 in the morning and warming to about 68 or more depending. Overcast skies and a little wind most of the day. Tournament was won with 14 lbs and some change, 12 something took second and third was about 8. Everybody else weighed in a few little ones. The topwater bite was good all day with frogs and soft plastics worked if fished right up against the banks against grass or cypress trees. Color didn't seem to matter. I don't think one fish was caught on a dock. Good Luck.
Sounds like next full moon or just before will be good up there. Thanks for the report. I haven't been up there in about 3-4 years it guess. My bass club never wants to go there for some reason.
Chris,
It's a good lake if you can catch it right but it can be moody. I honestly think I learn more on that lake than any other though. Our bass club doesn't fish it that often but mainly because it's a two hour drive to Blackshear or an hour drive to West Point, Martin, or Eufaula.
Any recent reports? Our club finally voted to go there. I might go up tomorrow if another trip doesnt pan out.
If you see a green 6 foot bass hunter with a 15 h.p. Mariner hanging off the back come by ya bout 45, it was'nt me!![]()
It'll be hard to spot from all the jet ski's.![]()
