I'm looking at a couple of new boats, both have ETEC 225HO, one a 2009, the other a 2010.
Are there any differences or improvements in the 2010 over the 2009.

Either motor is just plain ole strong and worth it if that means anything.
I do not know of anything but reality is the motor is great the way it is so I doubt there is anything changed too significantly. Any product nowadays always goes through running changes, sometimes a minor improvement and sometimes a cost/supply issue. For our motors that is usually the meaning of the suffix letter.
Not a BRP tech so I am not informed fully for your question but if it were me I would not worry at all with going with either of the two model year motors, both will work and both will have warranty should something happen.
