92 Johnson GT oil change?

I recently bought a boat from a local guy that my father knew and he has moved to Florida because he got laid off of work and now just enjoys life until he runs out of money.. haha.. But from what I remember he said he ran the Pennzoil (I think the extended life stuff) and I can't get ahold of him to ask.. I ran the boat about 7 times last year and never really noticed a lot of smoking, I would expect it to smoke some but it was never heavy.. I have been reading post and whatnot on here and it seems like everyone likes the XD 50, 100 and I was wanting to know if I should not worry about using the same stuff he had been or switch to the Eve/John stuff? In about a week I can get the Pennzoil for $10 with my discount and a sale at bass pro so I can get it for cheap? Any opinion or information would be appreciated.

I switched to XD-100 last year and LIKE it. Dont use as much as I did with XD-50. I can get it here in KY for $27 a gallon from a local shop.

Don't know about the oil change. I run xd 50 have ran walmart oil when I'm out and that's all that's open and can tell a diff. Runs rough. However I paid 39 bucks for a jug yesterday. Where u get it at that price? I will buy 4or5 at a time and ship it.
