    AR river Cook Landing

I must be the only crazy one. Parking lot was empty when I got there at 1300 and empty when I left. Does no one fish there? Anyway, I caught a few bass nothing huge. caught a 2.5 pound crappie and a couple sheephead (that's what we call em). It was fun but would like to learn more about the river. Fish were caught in 4-6 ft with crawfish and shad crankbaits.

Not familiar with Cook's Landing. What is the closest town?

Fished the AR river at Pendelton near Dumas a few weeks ago. Did pretty good on Lake Merrisach off the river. Not so good on the river.

Not sure of the little town name but it is right close to Little Rock.

Cook's Landing is the one on the north side of the river just upstream from Murray Lock and Dam. I've never launched there because it looks dang near impossible to get to the river channel from there. You might want to check out the ramp under the I-430 bridge. Take the Cantrell exit on the south side of the river and head west. Turn north at the first light you get to and follow that road back down to the ramp. It's a free ramp to launch at, but gets pretty crowded with cyclists and boat trailers. It puts you right where the Little Maumelle and the Arkansas River meet.
One word of warning! you can't just shoot straight out to the river channel from the ramp. The water is less than a foot deep at the end of the island. You have to go under the bridge on the south side of the river, stay fairly close to the bank until you reach the second river marker buoy from the bridge, cut across to the main channel and then go back.

It was pretty easy to get to the river channel from Cooks. I fished all over from the ramp out to the bridge. So where is good place to go once you get to the channel?
