    Fishing reports from Arkansas???!!!

Come on, Guys, don't be like me, an old coot who's afraid of the cold. Surely some of you are out there fishing these days. Since I'm new around here I'd like to hear how winter fishing is in Arkansas. Or I'll have to go out, brave the cold, and report back to you. It won't be useful since I'm new to central Arkansas.

Dan I havent been out in about 2 weeks myself, just too many things going on right now. My last trip out was on the river that Sunday when those tornado's hit I think we caught 5 bass and one monster grinel (fun!), all of them were up the Cadron and came off slow rolling white spinner baits.

BTW horseshoer, Dan's last boat was a Gambler, thought you might like to hear that if you didnt already know.

    Thanks for the replies, Boys,

Guess I'll get out there and see what's happening. Should have gone yesterday but I promised the wife we'd go down to Little Rock and shop. Today would have been good but I was too lazy so I hung around the house and help her put up decorations. Ain't that the way? Guess I'll have another cup of coffee and think about going tomorrow.

Re: Fishing reports from Arkansas???!!! (horseshoer)

My last "real" bassboat was a 1996 Gambler Intimidator with a 1997 Mercury 200 EFI. I loved that boat and the day I watched it going down my street behind it's new owner's truck was truly one of the saddest days of my life. I had abouut stopped fishing and I was tired of waxing and maintaining that beauty so I sold it. It was burgundy and silver and ran and handled better than any bass rig I ever owned (including my first Gambler, a 1991, two Hydrasports, a Ouchita and a bunch of jon boats. In fact, I don't even own it anymore and I've got to show it off so here it is:

Dan, I guess I am an old coot just like you......haven't been out fishing in about 4 weeks, but have been duck hunting

It is just too cold for bass fishing or any for that matter

I can see where those would come in handy if you had to drive an hour plus to get to your local lake, but for those of us that it takes less than 30 minutes to drive to our fishing holes it just seems cheaper and eaiser to plug up the 'ol on board charger when you get in.

Come on now...you can duck hunt and fish! Went to monticello 9 days ago. Caught 3, 2 over 4 pounds. Quit at noon as I had to get my arse home. Frost on the top cap of your boat is a good thing.

Hey boogerdoc, what did you catch them on and how deep?

I love Monticello, there are some absolute hawgs in that lake.

Hmmm??? Forecast in the sixites on Friday. Don't think I'll be able to resist. Two days before Christmas but nothing planned until Saturday evening. I was thinking of trying Adkins since I want to stay on "small" water. Any suggestions?

Dan, Bass or Crappie? I havent been out there since late September or early October so I dont really know what the bass are doing right now. If I was going to bass fish it I would either slow roll a white spinner bait in 4-8' of water around timber or work a pig-n-jig up against the timber. In the past I could catch them on a black and blue pig-n-jig this time of year up against the cypress that had 4' of water around them or deeper, but this year the water is so low I dont know that you can find any like that right now. For Crappie they usually stack up in the cove right there at Lucky Landing on the south side. Good Luck if you go, and post a report. Oh ya, if you've never been out there take it easy, there are a bunch of stumps in that lake (not near as bad as Conway) and you can mess a boat up if you get in a hurry and dont know where you are going, especially with it as low as it is.

Re: Fishing reports from Arkansas???!!! (Skeeter Jay)

Yes, Jayson is entirely correct about taking your time.......be very careful out there, lots of places you can't see a thing are flats of solid stumps sometimes

Just go slow and try to keep to the channel..........

And for fishing, bass should be turned on pretty good over there right about now...maybe a jig and pig or worm...don't know much about how the crappie are hitting...

    Good luck
