A bunch of Canadiens are heading to Lake Dancy in AL, next week. We are all Tournemnt anglers with good bass fishing knowledge, but I was wondering if there is any specific baits that work good down there, this time of year? It's sounds like you guy's through alot of rattle traps, any specific colours or other baits that work well? Any help would be graetly appreciated. Thanks in advance....

Welcome to Alabama (soon). I have lived in the South all my life and can tell you this...when fishing gets hard, downsize. Spinner baits, crankbaits, topwaters early and late, and Rapalas shallow work great. But, when it gets tough, break out the 4" plastic worms and the 1/8" jig heads. Regular round heads will do. Color is personal, but you can't go wrong asking. I find chartreuse w/motor oil and pumpkin to be great in clearish water, while black and purple are good in murkier water. Just rig the worm weedless as you would a regular worm hook, with the barb stuck back in the body. Drop them off rocky points and catch Spotted Bass when the largemouths are hard to find. Just experiment with depth on the rocky ledges. I learned this the hard way. I was a big-bait = big fish guy, then got skunked once too often!
