    New Shimano crucial crankbait rods

Thinking about getting a couple new cranking rods. Looking for opinions on the crucials.

Re: New Shimano crucial crankbait rods (PAL)

Now being built on the Cumara type blanks. Very nice rods especially at $179 and the over the counter warranty. Fish very well, and are plenty light.

Re: New Shimano crucial crankbait rods (reelex)

i had the older crucial cranking rods and really liked them i had a few 7' med hvy and they were very versatile rods for reaction baits. the new ones are lighter than the older models.

Re: New Shimano crucial crankbait rods (Revofisher)

I just got the new split grip 2011, 7'11" 3/8-3/4, Med, Med Fast Crucial. Too cold to cast it much in the snow but it feels real nice, tip heavy to be expected but good give in tip to launch the 3/4oz plug good distance. Paired it up with new Diawa T wing Ballistic.

It is not the same blank as Cumara reaction as mine has printed on rod TC4 construction as well as stating IM10 graphite. I do not believe the Cumara is TC4 construction.

I went with the Crucial not on price but I felt the TC4 which I believe is some sort of glass strand they add to the graphite they claim is virtually indestructible. I also have a 7'er old style TC4 and like it a lot as well.

With a 7' 11" rod "virtually indestructible" sounds pretty good. Especially since I have broke tips on the regular Cumara's pretty easy.

really interested in the shimano cranking series either crucial or compre...checking out the 7'6mh and the 7'ft mh as more of all around cranking rods not just limited to deep diving stuff looking for something for like bandit 300's up to dd22 when necessary.

I was looking at glass rods like the powell 735 and mojo glass.
I guess what im asking is what are the benefits of the TC4 over a true glass?

I would think it would be more sensitivity and lighter weight, but the TC4 is probably not as parabolic. I have been using a 7' MH MF 3/8 - 1 Crucial for last few years and it is my goto rattle trap rod. A MH 1/4 - 3/4 or MH 3/8 - 1 may be too stiff for lighter bandits. I fall somewhere in the middle preferring rods that are not too stiff or limp for cranking, I would think a M F or MF 1/4 to 5/8 would be better than MH F on those lighter cranks, but thats just me. I don't even try to rip them through the vegetation around here, it's just too thick.

    Re: (ShannonBassMan)

I just picked one up last night in cabela's - the 7"11 MH model and gee... I didn't like it at all. It was really tip heavy and didn't feel light or well balanced at all.

Granted, it had one of those electronic thingys on it to make it more theft-resistant, but still, I was really surprised at how it felt in my hands. I've got a couple of the G1 crucials (a swimbait and flipping rod) and I was expecting more out of the G2 rods, I guess.

I didn't like a couple of the other new G2 rods I picked up, either...

The Cabela's "ankle monitor" is not cool...Can even ruin the feel of an NRX.

correct, reaction rod series are not the same, they are TC4, but all of the other series are Cumara type blanks. Sorry, I replied without reading entire post I quess?
