A little more info I have gathered together.
The Drag motor is way over 500hp with bags of torque. Its a 3.3 litre JohnRude. Probabley the most powerfull Outboard on the planet. Merc has no answer to this as you will see in some of the video's. Dave Bush lets them get ahead then catches, passes & lifts his foot before the end of the drag. Has been doing it for at least 2 or 3 years. It should also be noted that Daves boat is 400lb overweight for the class (progas) he is contesting.
