    airbrush newbie

ok so i decided to buy a cheapy dual action air brush from harbor freight, well i can get it to spray paint once in awhile i cant get it to do it when i want or ill get it goin good then it will stop spraying paint. I searched and say some of you use windex to thin it but what kinda ratio? i did a 50/50 mix, oh ya im using arylic craft paint(water based). Also sometimes i get some bubbles in the cup?
Are any of you guys running your paints through a strainer?

Any help i would appreciate it.

Sounds like your paint is too thick and the gun is not cleaned propperly. I use the same gun and craft paint with pretty good success.

If the gun is new, it's not clogged. Unless you had clumpy paint. I do strain my paint. Every color/brand paint needs thinned differently. Practice as much as you can and it will come to you. You might also not have the needle/trigger adjusted correctly. I used to just put a piece of nylons over the bottle before the cap to strain. I now use a metal screen on the bottle cap something like this. I rinse between colors.

Your paint should be about the consistency of skim milk.
Look on You Tube. There is a quite a bit of good stuff there. I know it helped me quite a bit.
