    Couple questions.

I have done research and found some answers and tips out on my own. I started pouring my own football head jigs yesterday. Got most of the needed equipment to do so. I have a Lee production Pot IV and my question is can you have the pot turned up to high? I believe I had the knob on around 7 and I poured a few stood up to drop some of the cut portion back in the pot to remelt and my lead looked like lava. Amber red. I turned it down between 4 and 5 once it started cooling down it looked like it had ashes on top of the hot lead underneath. I guess I will have to skim it this evening when I heat it back up. I bought my first batch of lead from Jann's in the 1lb blocks and only added 1lb yesterday.

Anyone with this pot that may recommend a setting to set it to each time or should I get a thermometer to get the pot around the 625 deg they recommend for lead pouring temperature?

    Thanks.
