Who here carves and makes their own balsa or cedar crankbaits????

I've been searching the web recently, looking for some insight and ideas, how to and how much $$$ to start doing it. I think it would be fun to do in the winter, make some one off baits, maybe try and replicate some and catch some big bass while Im at it........Anyone and everyone with some experience, step on up, I'd love to hear how you guys make em!

I just started and finished my first balsa crank, I can tell this is patient work but whats better than fishing than thinking about it. I've done everything by hand so far and for me a band saw or a scroll saw is a must in my opinion.

I am to the point of putting on paint, It's sealed off, it floats the way I wanted it to, just gotta see how it swims. If It doesn't swim then it will be christmas orniment for my 3 year old.

It's fun, BUT, read and study everything you can before you buy parts, make a list and keep notes.

    Have fun, I am!

Colin, some of the best baitmakers I know are right here. Big M, Fishwhittler and Bigbassman to name a few.
