Well I am by no means a great rod builder. I like to build during the winter months.
One of my first rods that I built was a telescopic rod I used for flipping a jig. I had a counter balance weight on the butt and wanted to remove the weights. I had an extra butt to attach so off I went!
Here is the goof....The butt has a cap with a screw in piece. I though I would use rod bond and put it in place with tape to build it up for a nice fit. I mix my rod bond and apply it to the butt and butt cap and put it together. It looks ok!
Next morning I go to extend the rod but it wont go! I kept it in the retracted position and not it's glued into the handle!![]()
Lesson learned! Extend the rod to the full open position or don't build telescopic rods again!![]()
