    Anyone tried making tungsten baits?

With all the great work on here lately I really need to get back to tacklemaking. Since I suck at painting I plan on working on making my own jigs, spinnerbaits that I best. Now I want to do something new instaed of the same old stuff because it has become boring. I have on order a hilts perfect mold to try making some custom tungsten heads. Has anyone tried this? Round one will be to duplicate some of those flick shake jigheads but my ultimate goal is to make my custom swimjig head.

My Lee pot gets that hot right?

I should have added I am not going to be melting the stuff as it does have the highest melting point of any metal. What I am talking about is the tungsten powder mix like is used by Zappu, etc.

Okay... that makes a little more sense.

As you posted the link to the Technon site I can tell you this stuff is nice to work with. I use it to weight baits (plastic manufactured baits) The epoxy kit does work but there is a tendancy for the tungsten powder to settle with gravity while the epoxy is curing. This is not a detriment to my application but when you are going to use a mold to make a jig all of the weight will be on the bottom of the jig unless you incorporate some type of centrifical action to the mold while the epoxy is curing to evenly distribute the tungsten powder throughout the cavity

Thanks for the reply, I did notice that it take 24 hours to dry so the tungsten settling could cause problems. With this in mind I will look into placing the molds on a lure turner. Now all I need to do is find some 1/16 " teflon base pins
and I will have a project.
