    Pouring Lead Indoors

Anyone pour inside? I don't really have the means to pour outside...plus it's cold as chit. If I were to open a window and turn a fan on would that be enough ventilation?

Read somewhere that most pots don't get hot enough to vaporize lead anyway, but is better to be on the safe side, obviously.

New to this and would rather not poison myself.

    Re: Pouring Lead Indoors (Ol'Monster)

I pour in my basement. I use a hood range vent top on 3 sides of plywood walls and run a hose to a window. I have plywood cut out to fit just inside the opening and have plumbers pipe wrap around the edges making a good seal. I get no fumes as it is sucked out right at the pot.

I pour in my garage. I have a fan set up on the work bench to blow across the lead pot. My garage doors don't seal real good at the bottom so I hope the fumes are getting out there!

    Re: Pouring Lead Indoors (B.R.ONE)

i poured once with may garage full open and two 24 inch fans. I definantly inhaled some fumes. I will not do it again. Led fumes do not make you smarter! One more thing, led deposites will stay in that work area, i wouldnt let my dogs or kids hang out in a work area were i burn led.
