Any reason alot of people have started using them?

Price is the biggest thing I can think of.
I refuse to sell knock offs because not all of them work correctly.
Where else can you buy 100 baits to paint? Surely to buy new, already finished baits, take off the hooks and split rings, scuff, and prime them all is alot of extra work and cost.
I dont throw crankbaits much and only use topwater and lipless trap knockoffs. I usually weight them to my needs anyway and have had no issues with tracking etc.

I dont use them at all. I only like to paint proven name brand baits.

Becuase they are cheaper, easier to start with, they have a scale pattern, and they catch fish. Sure... some of them don't run straight or right themselves in the water... but you just have to order a small quantity and test them. Not all of them work... but some do! I've found some very nice blanks!
As a buyer not a painter knock offs are not cool.![]()
I get it though. I wish they made a knock rod blank that would help me.![]()
I am just not going to gamble wether or not a bait is going to work after I spend 3 hours on it going thought the painting process
Just add 1 oz of weight and carolina rig it..![]()

That is about what most of knockoffs are good for![]()
It can be aggravating because the paint job looks really nice, then the bait won't run right and you can't tune it to run right. Personally I've stopped using knockoff's.![]()
Life is better living on a dirt road.
Cheap practice, as far as selling them I cant see the profit I've been watching a few sellers on ebay and they avg. getting between 5-7 dollars a bait minus the cost of the bait, hooks and split rings, insertion fees, paypal fees that leaves very little profit every once in a while they might get 10 or 12 but take away the 20 baits they took 6 bucks for and sheez.....why bother? On the other end of the spectrum I saw a RC 2(lucky craft) go for 61.00 this morning plus shipping....thats the margin I like![]()
I'm like Eric and Cliff I just don't like the KO's

I saw that as well. LC prices have been steady on there lately![]()
Some blanks work very well and some dont. I dont like the Square bill knock offs, they just dont run well even after modifying the bill. I was hesitant to try the DT10 Knock offs but was surprised that they run amazing well even at high speed.![]()
Lipless, topwater and the jerks are close to equal in my opinion. Might have to add weight to some but Im willing to spend a couple minutes on a bait and save $16 plus.
I just ordered 40 more floating lipless cranks and 20 more topwater knockoffs.. Nanner nanner nanner...I need something to learn on..

If you don't sell them.....buy whatever you like. I am not trying to argue.
I sell them so I want what is going to make me the most money and what will make my customers happy. I just don't want to worry with modifying baits to get them to work correctly.
I have a vendor that I can buy anything wholesale so that helps a whole bunch as well.
IM me the vendor or maybe I could get some good baits from you.![]()
BTW... I have some of your baits... Mr Bietz has sent me some.

I haven't talked to Joe in awhile. I think I painted him up some rattle baits about a year ago.
Daves custom baits now sells custom painted Megabass 110 knock offs for $20 a pop.
I don't sell any knock off's unless someone asks for them. I have had a few folks im me asking if any of the one's Ii've posted pics of are for sale, but I make sure they know that they are knock off's. That being said, I have found that the DT knock off's are very consistant and run well, and just about everything that Jann's sells has run well for me.

I buy knock off's becasue they are cheap and easy to learn on. If I was selling I wouldn't paint them unless asked to
Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!
