    balancing a rod

I have a falcon expert 7'6" rod it is a really light rod but I'd just a bit tip heavy. Has anyone made a balancer for there rods.
Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!

    Re: balancing a rod (whoza_daddy)

Yea id like to know also. I have several 7ft6ft rods that are tip heavy. Ive used the basspro ones and have used the rubber tips you use on like chairs or furniture and put quarters or washers in them......They both work but id like to use something more quality looking. I think Batson makes them....But id like to hear about something someones made or bought from batson or matagi.....Not sure if i spelled that right or not..

have you tried fishing with it? i have a few rods that i thought were tip heavy (playing around in the house) but once on the water, all my concerns went away. The jig (and fish!) pulled down harder than any balancing could have overcome (short of putting a brick on the back!) hehe

i NEVER like adding weight to a rod!

MarkG used to sell some on ebay ... there might be some on there. They look good and are great for the price.

Here's what I've done to balance factory rods so they retained their factory look.

    1) remove butt cap
    2) Find a scrap piece of blank that fit's inside the existing blank
    3) pour lead into the scrap
    4) Epoxy scrap into place
    4) reinstall butt cap.

No one will ever know the difference.

On my flipping/frog'n rods, I leave the bore open on the EVA butt cap. Then I weight a couple scrap pieces as mentioned above. I add EVA tips to the scrap and shape it to match the butt.

Fitted properly, it will stay in the rod, but you can always pull it out and swap it for another one of a different weight.

This is a great feature when I sell my used sticks to my buddies who are anal about balancing their rods. I just give them the stick and couple weighted inserts and send them on their way.

    Re: (PA Officer)

Something I have been doing, cutting off the butt cap and epoxying the appropriate size bullet weight inside the blank, then re installing the butt cap.
