water intake etec

I have twin 2006-200 etec ho's,and have been told that there are larger water intakes on the lower units that are available.
I want to put these on,and i am wondering,why they did not use these in the first place?
Are there some applications where they are not suppose to be used?
Is there a part number for these?

Dunno if this is the same thing that you are talking about but I had my lower unit replaced this summer (insurance ). Didn't take too much notice in the difference between the water pick ups other than the new lower unit has the "bullett" shape leading to the pick ups. I did pick up about 4 PSI though Old LU was a 2005.

the different intake screens are only needed for special applications, especially where aerated water flows by the cooling inlets.
