    Thru blank repair advice please.

I have 2 rods, one is a spinning = all star, the other a baitcaster = shimano compre, they both have loosened up so they want to spin on a hookset or even casting, the guides, butt handle and all in unison, while the reel stays put.
I assume I can remove the reels and inject some epoxy or super glue into the spot below the trigger, maybe pull the cork handle back a bit and slide it all together again?
Any suggestions on this, type of epoxy or even super glue, hot melt? What not to do?
    Thanks in advance!

I'm sure you could get a syringe and shoot some epoxy up in there to hold it. I'm not sure how long that would last though.

If you want to do it right, you'll need to remove the seat and the old epoxy and start from scratch.

Part of the problem may very well be cardboard or masking tape shims under the seats have deteriorated with time. Those need to be removed or they will continue to cause problems.

You'll also need to create new shims prior to epoxing.

Super glue isn't going to work. Preferrably you want a 2 part, waterproof epoxy. Many rodbuilders use a product called Rod Bond, but you might can use some Devcon 2Ton for a homemade repair and get by ok.

Thanks Cid, sounds like good advice, the compre is fairly new, unlike the all star.
What would u use for shims?
I bought some loctite high strength, water resistant 6 minute epoxy today, I hope that will do it.
I took it apart and it is just the reel seat that is the problem, and it is not a seat where the rod is exposed, a shimano bio grip magnumlite, doesn't look or feel like there are any shims, and just not glued right before.
    Thanks again.

Personally I only use Rod Bond - you can order that through mudhole for $7 for 4 oz (and it comes in real handy for other stuff!!!).

You can try using another 2 part epoxy (like devcon) and that should be available in any home supply type place.

The rod bond is made for rods, the other isn't but I've heard of plenty guys using it on their rods.

got it, thanks for the info on what the shims are, now if I could only get this cork handle off I could clean it good!
    any suggestions on that?

For anyone else out there that may encounter the same problem, I used Loctite 6 minute gel epoxy, water resistant. Not what the pros use but I got it locally at a hardware store $7.oo. If it holds the season I'll be happy.
Went fishing with it after waiting a day and put some pressure on it, unfortunately not with some big fish, it is holding no problems so far seems like a strong bond.
