I am considering trying to custom paint some lures and need advice on the air brush that I should use. I have had back surgery and will be down for the next month and need a hobby. Any and all advice will be appreciated!

the gx207 is the brush to get
Thanks, I went to your website and if that is what you are using, I am in. VERY impressive what you have done!
thanks i use that brush alot i also have a iwata very similar to that to me they are very much the same parts for iwatas are very high and the gx207 comes with alot more stuff than the iwata i think you would be very pleased with it![]()
If you want to start a bit cheaper, (to see if you enjoy it); I've got the 2-stage, Harbor Freight special.

-
I regularly get 20% off coupons in magazines I subscribe too; so that helped offset the cost too.
-
I wanted to go cheap, to make sure I even enjoyed it; but after a short time; I'm addicted! I'll probably step up to a nicer gun soon.
-
Be patient starting out, it takes time to get the results you want; but practice makes perfect.

That gun shaggy posted looks awesome, for the price! That looks like a good step up for me! :-) The gravity feed would serve me better, as I only use a few drops of color at a time for each bait.
i have the harbor freight brush as well works great for more coverage and doing splatterbacks but i wouldnt trade my gravity feed for anything several guys on here have the gx207 it would be a great brush to upgrade to![]()
Thanks to all, hope I do not wear out welcome, but where do you all get your supplies, paints, masks to pattern baits, eyes, etc?
Are there any books or videos that you could reccommend?
Thanks
I get my blank bodies from Janns Netcraft, Predatorbassbaits.com (Jim is GREAT there!-fast shipping), Ebay, a couple from Barlows tackle.
-
All those places have eyes/masking etc.
-
I use Createx paint from Michaels and Hobby Lobby. Lookout for 40% off coupons from each place too. They always pop-up. And you get them via e-mail if you sign up on their mailing list too.

I learned much of my info from the forums over at Tackleunderground.com, great site! and TONS of practice.![]()

Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!
