    Motor position for winter storage

Hi- Got a quick question. First time storing this boat for the winter. 97 150 Ficht on a 93 Stratos 285xl. Boat will be stored inside and all winterizing has been completed.
Whats the best position to store the motor?
    Trimmed up w/ motor totter?
Trimmed down on piece of wood?
Trimmed down using the factory motor stand?
    Other method/position?

Just want to minimize the stress/strain on the transom over the winter. Will be about 5 or 6 months up here in MN before I am able to get it back on the water .
    Thanks for the help guys!

I would trim down so that the skeg would touch a block of wood on the floor.

Disconnect your hose to the Water pressure gauge if you have one.

Now when we say trim your motor down so it would touch a block of wood on the floor-are we saying place a block of wood on the floor and set the skeg on it? If so, what happens if the tires lose a little air pressure over winter? Or do we block the axle so the tires are off the ground?

Re: Motor position for winter storage (brems)

I get the trailer off the ground, so the tires hang free and rest the frame on blocks for the winter. I then lower the motor onto a scrap piece of plywood. With no springs to allow the boat/trailer to move, no stress is placed on the motor.
