What the best way to do this ? I can't find any posts on it anywhere.

Just about any kind of cleaning solution will work. I use Mr. Clean magic erasers. Using anything that foams means you have to get it all off or it'll start to foam on you when it rains and make the grip really slick. The magic erasers do a great job without the foam.
I use simple green and a terry cloth.

I know it's not cleaning, but...last month in bassmaster there was a tip that I picked up... fill holes or cracks in cork with wood putty and light sand. Go to electrical supply store and pick up 1" - 1 1/2" heat shrink and slide this over your handle then heat with heat gun or lighter. This makes a awsome handle and it's tough. You will get 6 pieces to a pack for $10. two packs did 12 rods.![]()

I put the rod in my power wrapper and use some fine sand paper to get the junk off the grip then reseal the cork with UB40 Cork Sealer.
One of the New Board Sponsors Wilson Fraizer makes a great cork cleaner.

I use a green pad and dishwashing liquid. Get the cork wet, pour some dishwashing liquid on the pad and lightly scrub, rinse and dry with a towell. I clean mine every time I change line since the reels are off. I also wipe the blank down with a wet rag and q-tip through the guides to make sure they are not scratched or burred.
Red scoth brite pad works good.Just twist around the handle and it comes clean.
if you have some laquer thinner, lightly wet a towel, wipe it rather quickly to avoid damage.........done it for years

Frazier Marine's Cork Clean does an excellent job. Spray and wipe with no cleanup or mess.

+1
Magic erasers work great because the dont leave behind foam like some soaps and they clean great. After that I like to put some cork sealer on to keep it looking new.
