    Re: spiral guides (finesse worm)

I like them on everything but jerkbaits. It takes the torque out of the reeling. I find the #1 best use on deep diving cranks.

Keep the Lord first in your heart, life and all that you do. Everything ealse will fall into place.

i spiral wrap all my rods and there are a few advantages.
i think the biggest advantage is that it gets the line to the bottom of the rod, like a spinning rod. Easier to fight fish this way and (just based on my experience) i can feel the bite better when the line isn't resting on the blank.

Also with the guides on the bottom, you can use all smaller guides (sz 3-6) because the line wont slap the blank. up until recently i built all mine using a sz7 double foot stripper and bumpper and then to all sz6 single foot guides to the tip. On my current builds i'll be using sz7 df stripper to a sz7 single foot sz5 micro transition and then all sz3.5s to the tip. Inexpensive and light as can be.

some like them some don't, i'd give it a try - especially god for plastics and trigs - so see how you like it.

Is the spacing the same as if you put the guides all in a row?

What applications would one NOT use a spiral wrapped rod? (I am a freshwater fisherman, mostly bass).

    Re: spiral guides (nektarios)

standard spacing +1 guide at 90 degrees - roughly halfway between the 1st and 2nd guides.

jerkbaits and walk-the-dog topwaters might be instances where a conventional rod is better, but a spiral won't hinder you.
