You can do either or, if you don't have a laith then it would probably be easier to buy them preformed. They're really inexpensive compared to cork even preformed. you can buy both ends of the split grip for around $5-$7 preformed. Here's Mudhole's eva selection.

how do you like the eva foam I like cork myself but the eva is a lot cheaper
Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!

    Matthew,
I like the EVA foam better than cork. My favorite grip is a flocked grip, after that I use either carbon fiber or EVA. With good quality cork getting so expensive I just don't feel the need to use it.

    Re: eva foam grips (Bassn81)

i had just split the cork grips on 16 all stars and liked the split grip, i got a couple of cumaras and the eva grips are real nice so i have replaced 12 of the all stars with eva grips, now almost all my rods have the eva grips . i even put one on my daiwa crankin rod and it is lighter and doesnt have that obnoxiuos hump handle. these grips from swampland are nice .i dont care for the two piece butt cap so i am going to replace them with the one from mudhole that is a one piece it should clean up the install a little i cant get any pictures to focus on my camara or i would put some on here.
