    dull finish on jig heads

    i am looking to get a dull finish on my shakey and football heads. I have been dipping in the powder paint for a while now and my buddy is really wanting a dull finish on some football heads. the river to sea footballs is what i have in mind. any ideas?

    Try buffing them with extra fine steel wool. It should take the shine off. You can also shine up dingy spinner bait blades with it also.

    I've heard you can soak them in a little Coke or Pepsi for 24 hours or so to dull them but I've never tried it personally.

    Get some matte clear of matte finish powder paint.

    the only issue with using steel wool is that you will impart steel into the lead which will rust. If you can find stainless steel wool, you should be all set...

    You might try taking your jigheads already coated and reheating and then dip again.I tried this once and the second coat had a dull finish to it.

    Just get you some textured powder paint and bake them at 375 degrees for 15 mins to cure it properly. It will be dull and not shiney. I got about a pound of textured brown from ebay.
