Engine check/problem light for 1993 Fastrike 175

My 1993 Fastrike has no warning lights only a horn for problems. My problem is with my poor hearing and in winter wearing muffs and a hood, that I will miss the horn.

What I wanted to do was install a simple LED on the dash for an alert. I tried to parallel an LED across the horn but it stays lit all the time. Horn has 3 wires - tan, purple and black.

Is there another point I can pick up ?? Something else to buy ?

Try the tan and black leads and with the key on touch one of the other tan wires on the motor to ground that should turn on the LED.

Nope, didn't. Horn blows but will not light the LED.

I think the horn is part of the circuit that looks for the grounding of tan, then bias the horn to blow. The purple at the horn is at 12 volts all the time the key is on.

Maybe some other unused output or contact from the harness ??
