Does anyone know why OMC recommends that only Champion plugs be run in a 89 Johnson GT150 VRO engine (QL77JC4)? Why not the NGK plugs?

Why would you want to run the NGK plugs?
OMC and now BRP has worked with Champion to design the best plug for their engines. Why when champion plugs are easy to get, would one want to run any other?
I have never had much luck with Champion plugs in the two stroke engines, boat engines, weed eater, motorcycles.
I put new champion plugs in today and will see how they do. But was just wondering if there was a special case that you needed to run Champions.
