...I cant get that nice shinny chrome look, like on the store bought baits. Is there a special paint or is it a process that gets that finish....The closest I can get is chrome rattle can paint that I use as a base coat![]()

Her ya go....only drawback is cost, around 150 bucks for the setupOn a sinking type bait like a rattle trap your best bet probably is to foil.

I have used chrome spray paint from the autoparts store and it doesn't look that bad.

I have never found a chrome spray that can match a foiled bait and I have tried a lot of different brands. Aluminum foil and a couple coats of epoxy will make the bait look like its under glass.

Johns right I don't think you'll do as good as you will with foil

Here is the Alsa Corp paint on a balsa bait

Craig it looks like that turned out pretty good, did you do that with their kit or did you use your own basecoat etc...?
used my own basecoat, although I am gonna get some of their speed clear and basecoat next as I am experimenting with some of their other stuff at the moment
You guys ever tried silver leaf or gold leaf, on your cranks??![]()
What I find works best and easiest is to add a good amount of .008 silver fleck to the 2 epoxy that I coat the lure with. Comes out looking great and you can use it on jigs, spinner baits, cranks....
