Thinking of building a custome rod

I've always wanted to build my owne rod, just never knew what I needed to get started. If I was to buy a complete kit would that be a good way to get started? I'm sure that this is like a lot of other things out there, you can buy cheep stuff and make cheep stuff. Or you can spend the money and do it right. I would like to build a QUALITY rod! I dont want to spend a fortune but I do want to build a rod that will be close to what I'm fishing with now. I have a few GL3's, 1 Falcon, and an All Star. Any hepl would be great.

P.S. This site is pretty cool. I'm a member on several waterfowl & archery sites also.

    ckarns,
I don't think you will find a better total supplier than Mudhole. Broad inventory, excellent range of quality components and tech help if you need it.

Check out rodbuilding.org for info. Get Tom Kirkmans "Rod Building Guide". Request a catalog from Anglers Workshop also.

check out rodbuilding.org and rodguild.com a supplier with good prices is acidrod.com. mudhole.com, and cabelas is another good one. I went with a kit the first time, learned a lot from that first kit. You can also ask a lot of questions on either of them two boards and you will get instant answers about rod building.
