I have a slide clamp that is kinda long. It works great, I can set it down to use both hands if needed, or hold and turn it.
Thx! I was thinking about a fly tying vise but wasnt sure if it would work. Will give that a shot! Thx!!

I think I paid around 20. for mine, you dont need a 50.00 vise however you will get what you pay for![]()
You can use an exacto knife handle for small to medium size baits, and a cheap pair of needle-nose vise-grips works really well also. you can drill a hole in a piece of 2x6 pine that the vise grip handles will fit in, makes a handy place to set the bait while you grab another brush or netting, etc.![]()
I use craft knife handles, hemostats (from my last trip to the ER), and I also use a fly vice when I need a extra hand.
I made a few aluminum rods and split them and put a screw in it for a few guys that make/paint baits...works very well.

ended up going to Cabelas and getting a vise for $16. Works great!!! (now... if I could only learn to paint!!)![]()
