A little help PLEASE! Installing a reel seat.

I have been researching building my own rods. I have everything sorted out except the installation of the exposed blank reel seat.
Most of the rods have a butt size listed but how do you know the dia of the blank at the point were your going to install the reel seat? I want to be able to order all 6 rods at the same and I have all my parts picked out and ready to order. But this reel seat thing has me a little bamboozled, I don't know the proper size reel seat to order?

Can y'all point me in the right place? PLEASE

    Jimmy,

You need to measure each blank at the point where you want the reelseat!!!

If you know what handle length your going to be using on each of the blanks your ordering most suppliers will be more than happy to measure the blanks for you and send the reelseat that you need for each one. For the record......most popular sizes for blanks these days range between 12mm and 13.5mm(at the reelseat location) unless the rod has a really small diameter butt(like popping blanks do).

You can always use graphite arbors on the reelseats to fit them but I dont like to do so when using an exposed blank reelseat because it will create a gap between the exposed portion of the seat and the blank that you will need to make sure is filled with epoxy or glue when doing the installation.

Hope this helps!! Happy New Year!!

    Thanks Russ,

It looks like I'm just gonna have to order my blanks then go back and order my reels seats. Right now I'm looking at the CBS707 blank, Fuji ECSM reel seat, Split grips, and Fuji NSG(SIC) guides as a starting point.
I think this will make a good worm rod to learn(rod building) with and make adjustments as I go.

    Jimmy,
Go the extra $$ and use the Fuji titanium frame concept SIC's..............not all that much more $$ and well worth it!!!
