Deer Hide Prep

I want to preserve a couple of hides so I can make up some hair jigs this winter. I salted them for now.

What do I do next ?

Check out some taxidermy supply houses, they should have some dry prservatives you can order or ads for tanning houses you can ship the hide to.

When I was a fly tier we used salt and borax soap, never had a problem, be sure to get all the meat and fat off the skin.

The hide will last a very long time at room temp.
