I had my Champion out for a little night fishing the other night. Conditions were perfect for running at night - cool, no wind, full moon, and no other boaters on the lake. I usually don't push it at night, but decided to let her rip on a stretch where I knew there was no danger. As I approached WOT, RPM's seemed very high. Tach was giving me 6500, and I had just a tad more to push. This seems way too high for my evinrude intruder 1991 150HP with a 21 pitch raker (no jack plate). I only remeber seeing close to 6000 RPM's on one other occasion. I usually see 5600-5800 RPMs on most days. Could the calm cool conditions give me that much more, or is there something wrong with the tach ??? Or is there something else that needs to be looked into ??
