Re: cold water crank bait?? (cartrader)

I caught fish on Monday 2-15-'11 on a crank bait. Went back today and they wouldn't look at it. Caught two on a shaket head and worm. I don't know how cold the water was, but fish were up shallow.

Cranks will catch fish in cold water , just fish it as slow as possible.

Shad-rap and Wiggle wart when the water is under 50 deg.

Never have figured out why these two work the best seeing they are polar opposites but they do.

In cold water you either want a real wide wiggle like a wiggle wart of a real tight wiggle like a shad rap. The reason is you can work these baits real slow.

rattle trap, or lipless crank if you'd rather. They work in cold water. I have had good luck running square bills into stuff and pausing in cold water too.

    Re: (Cody C)

There is no such thing as too cold if its not iced over its possible. I caught 3 keepers over 15in the biggest was over 3 and some short fish this past weekend all on a crankbait water temp was 42. On up the lake there was still lots of ice on the water in some areas. But you need to find bass that are in range of a crankbait. Where I caught my fish the water was muddy with about a foot and a half visibility which is supposed to be the worst conditions muddy cold water.
