    Flipping/Pitching Hooks

What type and style do you guys think are the best for this and does anyone use anything that isn't your run of the mill hook? Like some type of saltwater hook? Pro's and cons of any style or design would be appreciated. I've been trying some different things recently

The straight shank hooks with the shrink tubing are great. I use the gambler brand.

Also use a snell knot it makes for a much better hook up. The knot allows the hook to jump up on the hook set giving a much better chance on your hookset.

+1 on the straight shank and shrink tubing. The Bass Pro brand are decent, and the price is right for a bag of 25. When money's on the line, I'd use a Trokar.

    Re: Flipping/Pitching Hooks (esdbass)

If you are talking jig hooks... a big, 5/0, heavy wire hook is hard to beat.
If you are talking soft plastics... there are a lot of good ones. I like to use a heavy hook with a large round bend. Not the EWG hooks. Straight shank hooks have gained a lot of popularity recently. For good reason as noted in other posts. Offset hooks will work good too.
I like to use as large a hook as the bait I am fishing will allow.
Big, heavy hooks require heavy, low-stretch line and a stiff rod to get a good hookset.
It's really about a complete package rather than just the hook only.
