Who uses the pre-made Carolina Rigs?
Any of them better than the others? Do you prefer to make your own? What sizes? I dislike the C-Rig but need to add it to my set of skills...
Thanks in advance![]()

nope don't use the premade ones.
as for size it all depends on the depth you are looking to fish as well as the bait size.
For me I usually use a 1/2 oz worm/egg weight above a pair of glass beads to a swivel to my leader. I use to use a tungsten weight but was losing too many of them and went back to lead. I know some people use steel or brass weights for more noise.
I've got hooks I like and line I like, why buy pre-made? I've never understood not people not liking a rig that catches so many fish.![]()
yeah do not buy the premade ones cheaper to make your own plus you can mix it up. If the fish are hugging the bottom you can use a fluro leader which helps your bait stay closer to the bottom. Use mono for the leader if you want your bait to rise somewhat with a floating plastic bait. You can use creature baits, flukes, worms, senkos, lizards and hardbaits. I think the carolina rig is very versatile. I read in a magazine about using a floating rapala with it and laughed at the Idea, but I have caught some really nice bass with that rig it sucks that rapalas are now 7 dollars so I dont use the rig so much anymore.
Thanks for the help folks!!! I'll definitely be rigging some up on my own... I read once of using a jig as the weight... doubling up the chances of a bite?
Anybody tried this?
yea theres a guy here who makes a carolina rig jig just for that purpose it looks cool never tried.. i use a football jig as a weight a lot.. be careful though in some tourneys you cant have two hooks on your line
the ones you buy are crap!!!!!only takes a few mins. to rig the Carolina
