    frog rod

wondering how many prefer a fast action and how many prefer a moderate action for spro type frogs. Currently use a the 7'6" L&T flippin rod and trying to decide if its a keeper. The backbone seems to kick in higher up the rod then I like

have also used a lowrider 7ft 6 power which was more moderate but handled big fish no problem despite not being a broomstick.

I have been using a Kistler LTA 7'6" Heavy/Fast. Like the fast tip for control. Being able to rip them out of grass and such is key. This rod is no broomstick.

My favorite is a Powell 704C for more open water froggin' and a 705C for the thick slop. I prefer a bit shorter rod for more accuracy and ease of "walkin' the frog". Just my personal preference.

    Re: frog rod (Ridge Runner_20)

I like slightly longer rods for froggin as I use the champ 735 or if I need MORE power ill go with the 736, but the 735 has a soft enough tip to skip the frogs and has the backbone to haul them through the nasty stuff..

Good Luck as froggin is a BLAST!

I like xfast. I have two custom frog rods, both have xfast actions, a Dobyns 735C and a Dobyns 735SS on the way. All of these rods have an Xfast action and I use them for swim jigs, toads, topwaters and frogs.

The key in my opinion, is that they are all soft tipped for easy casting/pitching but they transition into a good solid backbone quickly. They probably aren't what most folks would consider xfast or hinged where there is not bend or flex. When a lot of folks say xfast, that is what they think of or at least i do.
