never a good thing to rev it up with no load, first time you have a "runaway" you will be quite aware as to why not to do it, and scared sh!tless every time your motor is running on the muffs from that day on! nothing like a motor at full no load RPM, turning key off has no effect, fuel line disconnect will take minutes to run out of fuel, during which time, it could be all over, the bits inside the engine all tried to get outside!
The run away can happen. I had it happen to a Jet Ski on the trailer, it wasn't pretty.
