You see all these pro's say they're using flouro for cranking now and talking about how it'll get the bait deeper because the line sinks. My question is how much deeper? Take the DT series just to keep it simple, if I'm fishing one of these cranks how much deeper are they going to go compared to using mono or copoly?
I have an article from Bass West that Mark Perry did a while back (maybe he will post it.) But it gives some ranges for braid, mono and fluoro. It is pretty eye opening. I will try to email you a copy.

I'd like to see the article also. I've read a couple articles where they compared depths with different lines, and diameter was more important than material. Braid went deepest due to it's small diameter.
here we go. i picked 3 of the most common deep crankers from the article. sorry no dt's were in the article. can't beleive someon deep cranks without a dt 16, but oh well. these are the depths reached with a 7' comoposite rod. with a longer rod, longer cast, you could probably get deeper:

the author's thoughts on braid and fluoro were that it gets deeper, but if knicked or scraped in thick cover (timber, shell, rock, etc.) both braid and fluoro will break easier than mono. I don't have much experience with braid, but i know that fluoro when knicked breaks quick. it is why i am trying the new deep cranking from suffix with a dobyns RM 805 CB for extra distance to see how deep i can get. i have never fished an 8' cranking rod until this summer. i have used the 7'6" rods, but this new one is pretty nice in hand. if i can reach the 20' range with the suffix/dobyns combo routinely, i may stay with that line rather than fluoro. i have had a run of fluoro breaking on me in the .012" diameter that i have been cranking with. Just my thoughts though.
