    Universal Knot (perfect for Fluorocarbon)

If you've had problems with your fluorocarbon breaking with the palamor knot then this one will help, i have tied it on braid but haven't tested it in the field (but appears to hold up fine)

    1) take the line from the rod the (main line) and run it through the hook eye

    2) then take the line you just ran through the hook eye and make a loop

    3) take the loop you made on the end side of the line and twist it around the main line from your rod 3 times

    4) then take the end of the line and run it through the loop, then back through the gap you just made below ( this is just like a trilene knot move )

    5) wet the line

    6) finally, pull the line from the main, rod end until you hear a pop

All I fish is Fluorocarbon and I won't tie another knot after seeing this one work so well. I don't know if someone already named this knot but its all i'll use. I just thought I would pass this along, James.

    Re: Universal Knot (castaway2002)

I think that's called a fishermen's knot (or at least that's what I call it). Been using a reverse cinch with pretty good effect (quicker and one less loop to thread which is just as well since it's getting harder to see the line ). I think it's step 5 that makes the difference for any knot you use with flouro.

Its calle the Eugene Knot. And i use it to. I have used many knot and use Fluoro alll the time. it is absolutly the best knot ive seen that wont burn Fluoro.

Side note. When i tie it i dont run it back through the loop. like in your step 4. just the first loop. Still hear the pop.
