    overfilling oil tank?

motor is an 02 250 ficht. I overfilled the oil tank to where the long tube i add the oil in was full also. Does this cause a problem for the motor? The reason I ask is i know the return oil line seems to pump a decent amount of oil and it would seem like it has no where to go if the tank is ompletely full. I got a no oil light on the motor after running it for a couple of hours. i shut it down and waited a few minutes and tried again and within 10 seconds got the oil light again. The motor had definetly used oil bc the tank was down a little, but wondering if the overfilling caused harm to the pump or anything or if it is unrelated to the no oil warning?

just think for a second, if the oil return line returns oil, where exaclty do you think it returns from? it will not fill the oil container any more than it is now, however, it should not be too hard to drain/suck/syphon a bit of oil out to make it the correct level.
