Once it warms up. About mid-late April, but if it warms up pretty quick, maybe even before that.

You can use one all year long.

In the Winter months you have to drill a hole in the ice and rig it up dropshot style!

If this warm weather keeps up, that ice should head out soon! Pre spawn cranking works good on Greenwood and Hopatcong as well as the rest. Gives the fish something else to look at beside the hundreds of jerkbaits they see every day. Crank a suspending deep diver till it hits the structure-weed tops and let it sit...

I use very crankbaits very little. Northern Pike will desimate a good crankbait collection in a hurry.

45 degrees and up for me, below that jerkbaits are better. But I throw a jig anyway....

I start throwing them as soon as the ice thaws......It'll be the first bait I throw.

I throw them right after ice out but work them slow ,let sit for a couple seconds ,give a short jerk and continue working them slow.As the water warms I will work them faster and with a more eratic motion.
