    Ribbits

I bought some of these off the for sale forum. I figured with the grass we will have this yr on Sardis they would be good to fish in grass. What type hook, line and rod would be best. How do you rig them.

    Re: Ribbits (willfish4food)

The last time I threw that bait I had 12 lb. Izorline on a Diawa Fuego and a Kistler Rod 7' Heavy. I have since sold the rod and reel but the line is not going anywhere. I have had alot and I mean alot of fish caught on that toad. I just purchased the floating ribbits to see if when the fish are short striking if leaving it sit would help. The hook I use is a 4/0 by Hookerz

tex rigged with the screw in hooks work the best keeps the frog from tearing up. i posted a question in the polls forum about line and braid is the popular choice by far..... i have used 12 lb copoly in the past i am going to switch over to braid

I use Ribbits also, braid is the only way to go.IMO...You want a stout rod but with some tip so you can make long cast.

I fish the ribbit on a medium heavy spinning rod with fifty pound power pro. This set up allows me to skip the bait under trees and docks.Must have a reel with a solid drag.I use an okuma.

    Re: Ribbits (lkn4deer)

I use a 4/0 screwlock frog hook. I like the non-floating ones better than the floating. You can throw them farther because they're a little heavier. 65lb Spiderwire Braid for my frog fishin'... And I like the Ribbits the best out of the frogs I've used (Horney Toads, Yum Buzz frogs) I stopped shopping after I tried the Ribbits.

It's strange, somedays they will hit the ribbit, and some days they like the horny toad better.(the fish that is)

IMO Horny Toads when it's calm out and Ribbets when there's a little chop on the water.

    Re: Ribbits (willfish4food)

Hey just saw your post! I am on the prostaff for Stanley! I love the Ribbits Stanley makes a hook for the ribbits which works great , zoom also makes a hook which you have to tweek a bit to improve the hookset! I throw on a 7 foot med/heavy rod with 20lb
spiderwire ( it is 8lb diameter and will cast a mile).
