    weights

i used to use sliding bullet weights yrs ago for texas rigged situations a buddy told me about screw-in bullet weights and i used them and i noticed that my strikes and my over all fish intake has decreased . just wondering if any of u ever have this problem or what is ur technique for doing this or should i just pitch the screw-in weights and go back to the sliding weights.

    Re: weights (fishicer)

I generally prefer a sliding weight unless I'm pitching to cover and want the bait and weight together.

a weight permantly attached to a plastic bait is going to take away all natural action of that bait.it also adds leverage to the hook that works against you during the fight. imo, ditch the screw ins and go back to a sliding weight or in some instances a pinched weight a ft. above the knot.

I use both. When I'm pitching a laydown or heavy weeds, I use the screw in or peg. When I'm pitching docks, I dont peg (regular TX rig). Sometimes on riprap I peg other times not.

For me it depends on how heavy the cover is.
