Interesting observation at Bass Pro Shop today

During the fishinf demo... the fisherperson (female) threw a white spinnerbait in the tank.
She actually drug it OVER some of the fish, and they simply were NOT enterested!

Then she thew a crank bait. Again, putting it right in fron of the fish....they acted like it wasnt even there.

THEN, she threw a black and blue jig, with no trailer, and the same fish that ignored the SB & CB, CHASED the jig to the bottom, inhaled it, and hung onto it!!!

Then, she threw a spider jig, short hooping it on the bottom. The fish followed it, some took it...but they didnt "attack" it like they did the jig.

    Was very interesting to see!
Makes me think that I stick with my baits too long before changing.

I don't know what Basspro feeds the fish in there tanks in addition to the feeder minnows that you see swimming around, but I do know that they allways have plenty of minnows in there. The something different look of the jig is probably what set them off. They probably thought WOW a crawfish, I havent seen one of them since they put me in this stupid tank.

Now I have seem them blow up on top water and hit a crank bait up here at the one in charlotte, I know they feed them shad and of course the bass take a snack of a bream from time to time. I have also noticed how they attack any type of craw bait also!! It is pretty interesting to watch how they react to different lures in that tank!

Those bass in the BPS tanks are about the most educated lure wise you will find. I have noticed when doing demos here at BPS that they take a plastic or jig better. I have had them hold a Strikeworks finesse jig for what seemed like forever. They just seem to hit baits that fall better because usually in a moving bait they have to compete with the other species in the tank.

Another thing I do is I always take time to walk by the tank anytime I go to Cabelas or BPS and note the weather outside and what the fish are doing inside the tank. Pretty interesting. Even though they are in the tank they still react to fronts and pressure.
