    Lower unit swap J150PLEES/E200FPLEEN

looking at parts lists these are the same part number gearcases assemblies.

Thought beings the part number of the assemblies was the same that it would work, didn't look far enough to see if there were different drive shafts. Drive shaft in the 200FPLEEN is 1/2" longer.

Guess I wont ever look at an assy p/n on one parts list and match with one assy part number on another one again.,...

    HELP!!!!!!
How much trouble is it to change that drive shaft?

Thanks in advance for your help.
    Ed

To trade driveshafts, you need to disassemble the units to do a neat and complete job. This is not hard unless one of the units has a rounded off pinion gear nut. For the sake of sanity, take it by a repair shop and see what they will charge to do this for you. Some special tools are required also. E.P.

Thanks, I was hoping it was something I could do myself but your right, better let the pro's handle it. What would be a reasonable charge? i was kinda hoping to atleast take the bad one apart and taking the shaft out.

Well, since the unit is off already, I would guess from @ 75.00 - 150.00 Just depends on the shop and the hourly rate they charge. E.P.
